Just an hour from Montreal, the municipality of Rawdon is waiting to be discovered. Beach, forests, waterfalls and cascades: everything you need for a memorable outdoor holiday. The Rawdon area offers a wide range of cottages and other accommodations. All the more reason to spend a few days here!
Here's an itinerary for discovering the outdoor destination of Rawdon, well worth a stopover for a few days.
DAY 1
On your first day in Rawdon, take advantage of the opportunity to tour the area's must-see attractions. Arbraska comes to mind first, with its tree-top adventure. Tree-climbing, zip-lining: here's what you can do at Arbraska Rawdon. Little ones will also love the colorful Arbre-en-Ciel village. We continue our day with a stop at Marché public La Récolte to stock up on fresh, local produce.
Then it's on to Terre des Bisons to learn more about farmed big game at their interpretation center, stock up on gourmet products at the boutique and admire these impressive beasts in the surrounding pastures. Finally, we end our first day admiring the impressive 18-metre-high Dorwin Falls in the park of the same name. Take advantage of the park's 3 km of hiking trails, and why not enjoy an end-of-day picnic or a hearty poutine at Le Spot à poutine?
Day 2
Not too far from the municipality of Rawdon, head to Saint-Calixte for a day of family activities at Complexe Atlantide. This is a great opportunity to fill up on quality family time, visiting the magic castle and meeting friendly characters. The water park is the perfect place for a sunny day, and Familizoo lets you meet over 300 animals from near and far. This animal sanctuary lets you find out why each animal is in the zoo and how it has been cared for. What's more, it's now possible to sleep in the site's new hotel complex, Hôtel de la Cité Perdue. What sets this hotel apart? By offering visitors the chance to sleep... in the lions' enclosure! The hotel also features waterslides that are sure to delight children.
DAY 3
Cyclists looking for local flavors and gourmet stops? Set out to conquer this 75 km bike circuit that winds its way through this corner of the region. Starting at Parc des Chutes Dorwin, follow this gourmet itinerary where several agri-tourism businesses, boutiques selling regional products and natural and cultural sites will cross your path.
