A river rich in history

At Chute-à-Bull Regional Park, the Boule River runs alongside much of the hike. The Chute Trail follows the river along a short stretch through the forest, where small waterfalls, cascades, and rapids gradually come into view all the way to Chute-à-Bull.

Stairways have been built to allow visitors to walk close to the falls, and terraces provide spots to stop, watch the water, and take a break. The trail also delves into the forestry history of Saint-Côme. The park was developed in memory of the log-driving era, and various interpretive features recall the workers who once floated logs down the river.

Despite its short distance, don’t necessarily expect a completely flat walk. The park management rates the trail as easy to intermediate, and the natural terrain and stairs add a bit of effort to the hike.

If you’d like to extend your hike, the park’s trail network offers other options, including the Belvédère, Dam, and Trappeur trails. However, the Sentier de la Chute remains the most direct way to explore the river and its main attraction.

Access to the trail:

The trailhead is located at Chute-à-Bull Regional Park, at 101 Théophile-Gauthier Street in Saint-Côme, where the visitor center and main parking lot are located. The trailhead is located near coordinates 46.3082, -73.7605. Park management recommends following the signs to the park via Rang des Venne, accessible from Route 347, or via Chemin de la Ferme. When the visitor center is closed, the entrance fee can be paid at the parking meter.
