It's springtime. As soon as the mercury rises, we can't wait to get out on the local terraces. We get a taste for the outdoors. For a few weeks, as the snow melts, hiking in the forest becomes more difficult. Let's leave this activity to the more experienced among us, and head for the urban destinations of the Lanaudière region to discover pedestrian circuits where you can learn more about the history of our beautiful region.
L’Assomption
In addition to its lively downtown cultural scene, L'Assomption is rich in history. Guided tours and commentaries are offered in summer, but spring is the perfect time to stroll along boulevard l'Ange-Gardien and admire a town teeming with history. A stop on one of the lively terraces is a perfect complement to this activity.

Joliette
The city of Joliette, home to the region's cathedral, is equally rich in history. In fact, there's a great circuit that can be explored on foot for a few stops, and requires a car to get to other points of interest. The long route takes about three hours, making it perfect for a sunny spring afternoon activity. As well as exploring the downtown area, you'll learn more about the founding of the city of Joliette and the broad outlines of its history: religious life, art and culture, political life, industries and more.
Don't miss: the impressive Musée d'art de Joliette, the Centre culturel Desjardins, the artist's alley downtown and the Riverain and Île-Vessot park, a wonderful springtime stroll.
Repentigny
Three pedestrian routes are available to discover the town of Repentigny. These three routes are designed to highlight Repentigny's rich heritage. One of them allows you to discover the charming Île-Lebel park, accessible all year round. This park links downtown Repentigny to the St. Lawrence River. A second route allows you to learn more about the heritage of the Chemin du Roy, while the last depicts the city of Repentigny from different historical angles.
Don't miss the Espace Culturel, also a great place to stroll. Here you'll come across the Centre d'art Diane-Dufresne, as well as the Alphonse-Desjardins theater, which hosts a number of interesting shows. Not to mention the dozens of restaurants nearby.
Terrebonne et Mascouche
Between them, the towns of Terrebonne and Mascouche boast one of the richest heritages in the province. Vieux-Terrebonne is a must-see when it comes to Lanaudière history. It's home to Île-des-Moulins and its historic buildings. And there are many ways to discover its history.
