Our suggested itinerary for discovering the L'Assomption area this summer

April 30, 2026

The city of L'Assomption is renowned for its lively downtown, located on a peninsula bordered by the waters of the river of the same name. It's a vibrant city with refined boutiques, beautifully laid-out terraces and gourmet addresses well worth the detour.

Here's an itinerary to discover the urban destination of L'Assomption, well worth a stopover for a few days.

DAY 1

You can’t visit L’Assomption without taking the time to stroll down Boulevard L’Ange-Gardien. With its charming cafés, shops, and beautifully appointed outdoor seating areas, it’s the perfect place to enjoy some quality time. Cozy bistros and upscale restaurants line the street, inviting you to savor the local cuisine. End this day of discovery at the Les Esprits Tordus distillery, where they’ll be delighted to welcome you and offer you a tasting.

If you prefer beer, come discover the best selections from several Quebec microbreweries at Maître Edgar, which offers a diverse menu featuring fresh, local ingredients, with a touch of Belgian flair here and there.

DAY 2

Did you know that you can spend a whole day on the country roads of L'Assomption and make a lot of gourmet discoveries? The area around L'Assomption is mainly agricultural, so there are plenty of local farms and producers to choose from. Choose from a variety of businesses and make some great (and delicious!) finds. Rustik Alpaga welcomes you to the farm to learn more about the wool transformation process and see their cute animals. A guided tour (by appointment) will allow you to meet the alpacas and discover the artisan boutique. Not far away is Domaine Nasenka, a Scottish Highland cattle farm. A visit to the boutique offers delicious products such as salsa, stew, chili and various cuts of meat.

At Ferme Cormier, you can stock up on fresh fruit and vegetables all summer long, pick your own and see animals. At Pépinière Villeneuve, discover the flora, insects and animals on 5 themed trails. Bring your own snacks and take advantage of the picnic areas for a well-deserved break. Finish your visit by exploring the boutique and the large garden center. DAY 3

In addition to its cultural and agritourism attractions, L'Assomption's geographical location offers the opportunity to go canoeing on the river. In fact, the canoeing circuits of L'Assomption allow visitors to explore the banks of the river of the same name over a distance of 12 km. A launch location service (single or double kayaks) is available at Léo-Jacques Park.

If you prefer cycling to paddling, you can also cover many kilometers by bike in the L'Assomption area. In fact, you can reach the Chemin du Roy from downtown via this 84-km bike ride. Along the way, you’ll pass historic buildings and more rural towns with ancestral homes and antique shops.

Whether you choose to spend this third day on the water or on a bike (and why not do both!), we suggest ending this getaway at the Spa Santé Corps et Âme. This urban spa offers a wide range of packages and services to pamper yourself. You can even book an exclusive session in the hot tubs.
