THE ABBEY FOREST - SAINT-JEAN-DE-MATHA

The Abbey offers a variety of walking trails through its vast expanses of forests and fields, providing numerous panoramic views along the way. Their diverse routes include paved paths, mountain trails, and routes through the fields. The Mountain Trail takes you directly to the summit, offering a breathtaking view of the region. Whether you’re looking for a short walk or a longer hike, the various routes cater to all skill levels. The 15 km of trails are open from mid-April until the first snowfall, welcoming hikers with family or friends. Dogs on a leash are also welcome.

Nestled in the heart of the Mathalois countryside, this family-run orchard offers apple picking in season, as well as a selection of ciders to enjoy in their shop. The Saint-Gabriel Vineyard, certified by Ecocert Canada, is home to 35,000 vines, offering an authentic wine-growing experience. Explore their unique wine cellar, featuring 125 French oak barrels, during guided tours held at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Participate in tastings of their award-winning wines and treat yourself to a relaxing moment on their terrace with a magnificent view, while enjoying the winemaker’s delicious plates. They also offer a selection of lavender products. We’ll also stop to visit their two extensive museums of antique tractors, and finish with a short hike on their walking trails, which stretch up to 4.5 km.
