The Atikamekw community of Manawan, including more than 2 400 Natives and a territory of 7,83 km2, is situated 87 kilometres north of Saint-Michel-des-Saints in the region of Quebec and 120 kilometres west of La Tuque in the geographical region of the Laurentian Plateau. From Saint-Michel-des-Saints, access to the Community is through a forest road over a distance of approximately 87 km and an average duration of an hour and 15 minutes. The first 8 kilometres are paved.
