The Atikamekw community of Manawan, including more than 2 400 Natives and a territory of 7,83 km2, is situated at 87 kilometers north of Saint-Michel-des-Saints in the region of Quebec and 120 kilometers west of La Tuque in the geographical region of the Laurentian Plateau. From Saint-Michel-des-Saints, access to the Community is through a forest road over a distance of approximately 87 km and an average duration of an hour and 15 minutes. The first 8 kilometers are paved.
From the major urban centers of Montreal and Quebec, Manawan is located at a distance of approximately 270 km of Montreal and 390 km of Quebec.
