Kilkenny Regional Park in winter: a life-size playground

January 12, 2026

This is the very first winter for this new regional park, and already Kilkenny Regional Park is establishing itself as one of the must-see winter destinations. It promises to become a classic for winters to come.

In winter, Kilkenny Regional Park becomes a natural refuge. Far from the noise, people come here to walk in the fresh snow, breathe in the invigorating cold air, and observe nature at rest in a truly soothing, unspoiled setting.

TRAILS THAT REVEAL IMPRESSIVE BIODIVERSITY

With 8 miles of trails, Kilkenny Regional Park traverses an ecosystem of astonishing richness. It is home to 98 animal species and 204 plant species, not to mention two lakes and a river that shape a variety of habitats. In winter, the scenery takes on a whole new dimension: animal tracks in the snow, trees laden with frost, and a peaceful atmosphere that makes you want to slow down.

WINTER ACTIVITIES FOR ALL LEVELS

In addition to hiking, the park offers several winter activities that allow you to fully enjoy Lanaudière in winter. Classic cross-country skiing, Nordic ski touring, and snowshoeing are on the menu. The trails are designed to suit all levels, whether you're a beginner or an experienced forest explorer. Here, there's no pressure to perform: the important thing is the experience, the calm, and the direct contact with nature.

Good news for ski enthusiasts: Trail No. 7, La belette, is now open to skiers. This 8.5 km round-trip trail allows you to immerse yourself even further into the territory. Keep your eyes peeled in this area of the park: a female moose, affectionately nicknamed Bernadette by the team, is regularly spotted. It's always an impressive encounter, reminding us how much wildlife is an integral part of the Kilkenny experience.

Trail number 6, Le Coyote, is also officially open. By combining it with trail number 7, La Buse, you can now enjoy a superb 8 km round trip to practice your favorite sport.
