In July, we spent three days in the Lanaudière region. Let me tell you about our getaway, filled with fun, discovery and local flavors.
DAY 1: COMPLEXE ATLANTIDE AND HOTEL DE LA CITÉ PERDUE
Our getaway begins at Complexe Atlantide, a true paradise for families. When we arrive, we're impressed by all the activities on offer: inflatable games, castle, haunted house, zoo and more. However, of all the options, the water park catches our eye. This is where we choose to spend our day. Their water park is divided into three distinct sections, each offering its own share of fun. We head for the section closest to the entrance, where there are water games and several slides. This is where Noah bravely tackles the floating course. While he tries to cross the pool by jumping from one obstacle to another while holding on to a suspended net, Romie challenges me to accompany her on the Boomerang slide. Thrills guaranteed!
We then move on to another section of the water park, where we discover a large wave pool and a river on tubes. The children's laughter resounds with each wave. A little further on, perched high above the water, we see some spectacular water slides. We decide to go for it. Once there, we were delighted to discover a large pool and three smaller slides in addition to the ones we'd spotted.
After this refreshing day out, we head for the Hôtel de La Cité Perdue, located right next door.
A unique place offering an extraordinary experience. From our room, a large window gives us a breathtaking view of the lions. The children are impressed to see them wandering so close to us. The hotel is decorated in such a way as to plunge us into the heart of the jungle and savannah. The restaurant is no exception. At the La Jungle En Folie restaurant, the immersion continues with a sensory experience where the sounds, light effects and exotic decor give us the impression of eating in the middle of the wilderness.
DAY 2: CHALETS LANAUDIÈRE
After a delicious buffet-style breakfast in the hotel restaurant, we set off in the direction of Chalets Lanaudière. There's a wide range of wilderness accommodation on offer, from chalets to camping, yurts and cabins. We settle in for the night at Chalet La Clairière. On site, there's no shortage of activities to choose from: kayaking, canoeing, pedal boating, swimming, hiking and more.
We spend the afternoon on Morgan Lake. We paddle to the floating dock in the middle of the lake, a perfect place to take a break and enjoy the moment. From here, the kids play in the water, diving, jumping and splashing. After the swim, we head off to explore the forest's hebertism trails, where the kids climb and challenge themselves with gusto.
DAY 3: BISON COUNTRY, CHEZ LUCIEN AND GUY RIVEST FARM
For our last day, we head off to Bison Country. In addition to raising bison and elk, this 400-acre agro-tourism farm also boasts a state-of-the-art interpretation center where we can learn more about big game through history.
We then continue our adventure with a guided tractor tour, accompanied by Jean-Philippe, who tells us about the history of this family-run farm and provides a wealth of information on bison and livestock. It's also possible to hike along a 1.5 km trail, which features charades and questions, adding an educational aspect to the walk.
Just 10 minutes away, in the heart of Rawdon, we stop for dinner at Chez Lucien. This unique and authentic place exudes a special charm. As soon as you step inside, you want to observe everything, as if every nook and cranny told a story.
A wide choice of beverages is on offer. I opt for a strawberry and mango lemonade. As for meals, there's something for everyone and everything is lovingly prepared.
We enjoy our meals in the magnificent secret gardens at the back. We marvel at the many decorations, fountains and ponds, home to several goldfish.
Last stop: the Guy Rivest farm. We stop here to pick strawberries. Although the farm specializes in strawberry production, it also offers cherry, sunflower and pumpkin picking.
On the site, you can buy a variety of farm products processed from berries and vegetables. The fruit pearls, handmade one at a time, are incredible.
Every year, towards the end of July, a large labyrinth comes to life on the farm. In a 6-hectare cornfield, we're invited to experience a treasure hunt dotted with riddles and challenges, this year on the theme of space.
We loved our stay and it's really the ideal region for a family holiday. We'll be coming back with lots of memories!
