Saint-Paul was born in the northeast of the ancient Lordship of Lavaltrie. The first settlers, mostly from Saint-Pierre-du-Portage (L\'Assomption) and Saint-Sulpice, clearing the territory gradually. First along the Assomption River toward 1748, then on the side of the river Ouareau in 1750 and Saint-Pierre stream in 1765.
