Explore - Wake up the adventurer in you and experience some of the numerous outdoor activities that are possible in Lanaudière… with stunning scenery as your backdrop.

Let Lanaudière bring out your adventurous side as you explore this fascinating region in many different ways!

Start on foot with a hike along one of the many trails that run through our parks and wildlife reserves, often beside lakes, rivers and waterfalls. The air has a special freshness when you’re in the heart of a pristine wilderness! In winter, trade in the hiking shoes for snowshoes or cross-country skis and take in the exquisite beauty of Lanaudière’s endless snowscapes.

Ready for another kind of ride?  How about exploring the plains and valleys of the region on horseback? Or take to the back-roads on your motorcycle – this is the perfect place for cruising with the wind in your face. And for the truly bold, a parachute jump is the ultimate thrill.  In winter, there’s more than one exhilarating way to explore the countryside – try mushing a dog sled! Or explore the fantastic network of marked trails that have made Lanaudière famous as Snowmobile Country. This is freedom in the truest sense!

There’s more, much more. You love cycling? The quiet country roads of Lanaudière are made for you. How about water sports?  We have 10,000 lakes and rivers – a true paradise for enthusiasts of canoeing, kayaking or boating. Outstanding among these is the St. Lawrence River and its islands, a fascinating wetland labyrinth for you to explore.

The region of Lanaudière is also rich in history, with numerous heritage sites and buildings, museums, art galleries and quaint villages. Follow the route of the historical King’s Road (Chemin du Roy) (lien), the oldest navigable highway in North America. All along the way, the river views are magnificent. A camera is essential!

There are many interesting ways to explore Lanaudière, a region that has so much to offer. All the pleasures of nature and the countryside await you – so close to the city!
